These sport forms include: Foil Fencing, Epee Fencing, Saber Fencing, Classical Fencing, Historical Fencing, Stage Fencing, and SCA combat approved medieval cut and thrust methodology.

As a group, Northern Illinois University Fencing strives to collect knowledge on these forms of swordplay and pass this onto others who are interested. The club hopes that their ways can be successful in passing on the concepts of tradition, honor, and fair-play through invoking and interest in fencing of all of our club members and class students. They also hope that students, for once in their lives, feel what it is like to use those weapons as they mark a distinct time in our history real and imagined.
