Why Study Nursing at NIU?

Our School of Nursing provides you with the skills you’ll need to become a leader in delivering patient care in all settings. Through our B.S. in Nursing and RN-B.S. programs, you’ll receive training in the physical and social sciences integral to becoming a successful nurse. And, you’ll be ready to pursue your graduate degree. We offer those too, through the M.S. in NursingPost-Master's Certificate in Nursing Education and D.N.P. Doctor of Nursing Practice programs.

Hands-on Learning Opportunities

Our nursing laboratories consist of a Health Assessment Lab, a Nursing Skills Lab and a Human Patient Simulation Lab. These labs provide you with a variety of opportunities from practicing basic skills, performing a head-to-toe physical assessment, to critical thinking through a variety of scenarios designed to challenge you to apply knowledge learned in didactic courses. Our partnerships with over 230 regional healthcare partners means we can offer our students a wide range of clinical experiences.
