We’re doing our best to support our normal daily activities during this time of uncertainty related to the global outbreak of COVID-19. Campus remains open, and services are available with modified hours. We’ll keep you and NIU’s coronavirus (COVID19) site updated with relevant information as this global health situation evolves.

Academic Advising Center
ACCESS Tutoring and Support Services
  • Services are available in a non-face-to-face format.
  • SI tutoring sessions in select courses from March 16 to April 4 will be held online through our Blackboard Collaborate account.
  • Effective March 23, all SI sessions will take place virtually.

Administration and Finance
  • See contact information and updates on how to make emergency purchases, get reimbursed for university-related travel, contact someone about building maintenance, make departmental deposits, get mail for your unit or department, schedule video conferencing calls with colleagues and more.
Art Museum
  • The galleries are closed until further notice.
Bursar's Office
  • Our Cashiering Office is now working remotely. Therefore, payments can only be made online on MyNIU or by mail, not in person.
  • Account counselors will be available to review your account and advise payment options in non-face-to-face format Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Career Services
  • Staff members are available remotely Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

  • Services are available in a non-face-to-face format.

Child Development and Family Center
  • The center will be closed from Friday, March 20, to April 5, 2020.

Community Counseling Training Center
  • In-office counseling services are suspended.
  • The clinic aims to reopen during the week of March 30 for telehealth services only.
  • The clinic is open for video and phone conferencing telehealth counseling services. Complete a request for services form online. 
Counseling and Consultation Services
  • Counseling and Consultation Services is currently closed for face-to-face appointments. Staff members are working remotely to provide support.
  • If you need counseling or consultation support, please call 815-753-1206. You can leave a message if you have a general question or speak to a counselor if you need immediate support.

The cultural resource centers are available remotely to answer questions and address concerns.

  • If you have questions not answered through the Northwestern Medicine website, call the Northwestern Medicine hotline at 312-472-6843. The hotline is available seven days a week, from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

  • All current Saturday and weekday new student placement testing, except the Spanish Placement Exam, has been canceled for fall 2020.
