Are you attending NIU on any scholarships? If so, which ones?
NIU Transfer Merit Scholarship.
What is your major, and why did you choose your field of study?
My major is biomedical engineering. I chose this field of study because I have always been fascinated by medicine and healthcare and am excited by the opportunity it provides to improve human health by working on cutting-edge solutions to medical problems.
How did you learn about NIU, and why did you choose to attend?
I chose NIU because of the chance it offered me to pursue the path that I realized was right for me! Being able to get involved in Research Rookies and some other organizations here has really enhanced my experience. I previously attended Carthage College and Black Hawk College.
Do you have any favorite activities or events at NIU? What else do you do for fun in your spare time?
I enjoy spending time with the friends I've made at NIU. We've been trying out new things around DeKalb, watching the Huskies compete, and attending and helping plan a lot of different events!
What do you like about campus and the DeKalb area?
I like that it isn't ever difficult to meet friends or find something fun to do. That is something that is important to me.
What is something you have experienced at NIU that you will be able to take with you into future endeavors in your field?
The opportunity to be involved in undergraduate research in the field I intend to go into is exciting, and the experience and knowledge that I gain will be very useful in future endeavors.
What is up next for you after your time at NIU? Any plans you would like to share?
I plan to use the education and experience I will have then to work on engineering projects that will improve lives and solve the problems we've been looking for solutions to, and to possibly pursue medicine as well. Whatever path I take, I want to do something that matters.
Would you recommend NIU to others and why? What’s a general piece of advice you’d give to someone starting college?
I would recommend NIU to other students and especially would recommend getting involved here. Your experience is what you make it.
