We operate on a sliding fee scale that is based on income and number of dependents. Most insurance companies recognize us. Our fees are very reasonable and we will work with people with special financial problems to assure that they can afford to receive services.
Many people have insurance policies that pay for part or all of therapy. We expect payment at the time of service. Clients should consult their health insurance policy to determine coverage.
First Session - Free
We offer an initial "problem assessment session" at no charge. This session takes about an hour and a half and includes an interview with a staff clinician and paperwork. We ask you to tell us about the problem(s) leading you to seek our services, your background and your current life. We provide you, orally and in writing, with information about how we work as a clinic (similar to the information on this website but in greater detail).
During this initial session we set a fee based on the sliding fee scale. If you have insurance, you should bring your card and forms to the session. We ask clients to come in 15 minutes early to complete paperwork while in the waiting room.
What if I am an NIU Student?
For NIU students, there is a $5.00 fee per therapy session.
All other services are charged according to the usual sliding fee scale. Students are charged a flat fee of $250 for psychological evaluations.
