Our program builds on your associate degree, providing you with skills and knowledge in instructional design training, learning media development, performance technology and assessment.
You’ll be prepared for a range of positions designing, implementing and evaluating instruction delivered through various devices and platforms.
Admission Requirements for NIU's Online B.S. in Applied Management: Learning Technologies
You can apply if you have:
- An A.A.S. degree in an area related to the program, or an A.A. or A.S. degree and relevant professional experience
- A college GPA of at least 2.00
You’ll apply as a transfer student.

Will My Credits Transfer?
NIU accepts transfer credit from regionally accredited institutions of higher education.
Prerequisites may be required in communications, media production, computer applications, psychology and/or math. We’ll evaluate your transcript and professional experience after you apply.
Frequently Asked Questions
In-field experience is preferred, but it is not required for this program. You may already have experience with Learning Technologies without realizing it, as many roles incorporate these skills in different ways. If you’re unsure whether your background is a good fit, reach out to our Online Specialist to discuss the program and your goals.
The accelerated program allows eligible students to apply up to 18 credits toward both degrees, helping streamline the path to completing the B.S.A.M. in Learning Technologies and M.S.Ed. in Instructional Technology. For more information about eligibility and how the program works, please contact our Program Advisor, Judy Puskar.
An associate’s degree is required to pursue the Learning Technologies program fully online. You may still be eligible to pursue the program without an associate’s degree; however, we cannot guarantee that all courses will be offered online. Please reach out to our Online Specialist to discuss your options and determine the best path for you.
