Ilya Krishtal is Professor of Mathematics in Northern Illinois University’s School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences. His research concerns applied and abstract harmonic analysis, operator theory, and the spectral theory of Banach modules, with applications to sampling and signal reconstruction. A co-developer of dynamical sampling, he studies how evolving signals can be recovered from measurements taken across space and time. His recent work includes frames generated by operator orbits, spectral reconstruction, and nonlinear dynamics.

He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in analysis and applied mathematics and supervises graduate research. His scientific collaborations include work with researchers at Université Laval, KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, and Vanderbilt University.
