Our Mission
Internal Audit provides an independent and objective assurance and consulting services to assist the Board of Trustees and university management in the effective discharge of their oversight, management and operating responsibilities.
Our Location
Internal Audit is located on the NIU Campus, in Lowden Hall.
Lowden Hall is 60 years old this year and was first occupied in March 1965.
Lowden Hall was named after Frank O Lowden, who served as the Governor of Illinois from 1917 to 1921. Governor Lowden was most known for reorganizing the Illinois state government to make it run more efficiently. He also instituted a budgeting system which led to better oversight of the spending of taxpayer dollars. The namesake for our building makes it the perfect home for NIU Internal Audit!
