Preparing Future Faculty Conference

The Preparing Future Faculty Conference was created at Northern Illinois University in 2015 to inspire and prepare graduate students for faculty careers.

Held annually for 10 years, the conference has served as a gathering place for graduate students of all backgrounds from universities across the state. Faculty presenters at the conference have informed, encouraged and inspired graduate students of all backgrounds to consider the professoriate as a career path. Graduate students have presented scholarly research and coordinated roundtable discussions on issues relevant to them.

Takeaways and benefits from the conference have included:

  • A behind-the-scenes view of faculty life and expectations of faculty
  • Success strategies for developing oneself as a scholar
  • Skill development for interviewing, teaching and networking
  • Opportunities to interact with fellow graduate students
  • Opportunities to interact with faculty in a relaxed environment
Thank you to all who have been a part of the Preparing Future Faculty Conference!
