Getting started with AnywhereApps

Who can use AnywhereApps?

AnywhereApps is available to all NIU students, faculty, and staff. Users in some colleges will have access to more apps than others.


Citrix AnywhereApps applications will not launch

Reinstall the Citrix Workspace:

  1. Download and run the Receiver Clean-Up Utility to terminate all Receiver processes and initiate the uninstall process: Citrix Clean-Up Utility
  2. Once the utility prompts you that it has completed its processes, restart your computer.
  3. Download the most recent Citrix Workspace app (select based on your operating system): Citrix Workspace App
  4. Once the download has completed, run the Citrix .exe to being the install process.

Server Address for account setup:

Logging in:

  • Domain\User:  niunt\NIUAccountID  (ex.niunt\Z1234567 or niunt\A4567890)
  • Password: Your NIU Password

Once the installation has completed, try and run your application again. If you are still unable to launch the application, please submit a portal ticket at or contact the Service Desk at 815-753-8100, providing your Account ID, the name of the class requiring use of the application, the name of the application, the time and date you tried to launch the application and your contact details.

How do I re-enable saving files to USB and other drives?
  1. After launching the application, right click on the Citrix receiver icon in the task bar and choose Connection Center.
  2. In the Connection Center window choose an active session and choose preferences.
  3. Make changes to the “File Access” and “Connections” tabs choosing either “Connect automatically” or “Ask me”.
  4. You should now be able to access and save files to your USB drive.
