This 12 credit interdisciplinary certificate is intended to provide a broad background in the area of adolescence. It is open to all undergraduates who are in good academic standing at NIU.
The certificate provides
- A way to document course work related to adolescence and adolescent development
- An effective way to communicate with potential employers and graduate schools
The first step is to take one of the following core courses
- EPS 307 Development of the Adolescent
- EPS 406 Issues in Human Development and Learning in the middle school and high school Years
- PSYC 424 Adolescent Development
Successful completion of the certificate requires
- 12 credit hours (four courses)
- A grade of "C" or better in all certificate courses
- All certificate courses completed within six calendar years
- Courses taken from at least two different departments
