Northern Ambassadors

Mission

To develop student leaders in creating a welcoming, inclusive, and positive campus visit experience for all guests of NIU.

Vision

Northern Ambassadors (NAs) are the official tour guides of the university, serve on student panels, and support recruitment and yield events while embodying NIU's values.

Under the supervision of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Northern Ambassadors perform the following duties:

  • Greet prospective and admitted  students and their guests during campus visits
  • Lead outdoor/virtual campus tours for visitors to the university
  • Assist with recruitment and yield events, (i.e. Preview Days, Admitted Student Days, special programs)
  • Engage in calling campaigns
  • Participate in virtual and in-person student panels
  • Attend regular meetings and mandatory training activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Please note that NIU undergraduate student employees must meet a minimum GPA of 2.0 and enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours. See other student employment eligibility requirements.
