Saturday, March 21, 2015

The Presidential Commission on the Status of Minorities at Northern Illinois University (NIU) invites proposals for presentations at a one-day regional conference on diversity at the NIU-Naperville campus. Conveniently located along the I-88 corporate corridor in vibrant Naperville, the NIU outreach campus will become a stimulating backdrop for presentations and conversations. Each panel will be allotted 50 minutes, including an opportunity for audience questions. All levels of researchers are welcome to submit proposals, from college students to professionals with decades of research experience. Conference highlights include opening speaker Dr. David Stovall from the University of Illinois-Chicago and a multi-media presentation on immigration, assimilation and white privilege by Mr. Ariel Luckey.

The PCSM Diversity Conference supports NIU’s goal of improving retention (through diversity education), underscores the importance of diversity in higher education and communities and provides networking opportunities between and among students, faculty, alumni, and community members from NIU and the NIU region.
