Presidential Commission on the Status of Minorities
The Presidential Commission on the Status of Minorities was established by the University President to assure that Northern Illinois University consistently and comprehensively will reflect, sponsor, mandate and totally support action designed to enhance the status of minorities. The goal is to advise the President on the status of minority students, faculty, and staff and make recommendations to improve the quality of life and opportunity for minorities at Northern Illinois University.

One Day Drive-In Regional Conference Saturday, March 21, 2015
The Presidential Commission on the Status of Minorities at Northern Illinois University (NIU) invites proposals for presentations at a one-day regional conference on diversity at the NIU-Naperville campus. Conveniently located along the I-88 corporate corridor in vibrant Naperville, the NIU outreach campus will become a stimulating backdrop for presentations and conversations. Each panel will be allotted 50 minutes, including an opportunity for audience questions. All levels of researchers are welcome to submit proposals, from college students to professionals with decades of research experience. Conference highlights include opening speaker Dr. David Stovall from the University of Illinois-Chicago and a multi-media presentation on immigration, assimilation and white privilege by Mr. Ariel Luckey.
The PCSM Diversity Conference supports NIU’s goal of improving retention (through diversity education), underscores the importance of diversity in higher education and communities and provides networking opportunities between and among students, faculty, alumni, and community members from NIU and the NIU region.
An informal networking program for faculty,staff and students of Northern Illinois University. The program is designed to provide a network of friendly professionals committed to diversity at NIU. These individuals can serve as a point person to help acclimate you to our academic community and answer any questions that you may have.
