About the NIU Convocation Center

Northern's 10,000 seat Convocation Center is a $36 million multipurpose facility that hosts a variety of events.

The construction of Northern's Convocation Center marks the largest single capital improvement project in the university's 100-year history. The $36 million investment is not just an investment in a facility — the center marks a shift in perspective, a focus on the west campus as a new center for living and learning. The Convocation Center will anchor the future development of Northern's campus, providing the impetus for revitalized community surrounding the facility.

As the center for social, academic, and athletic events on campus, the Convocation Center is the single venue that can bring the university community together at one place and one time to share an experience: the very definition of community.

We hope you will consider the unique opportunity this project affords: to help shape and define what a college experience will be for a new generation of Northern students. At the beginning of a new millennium and the start of NIU's second century of service, private support will help provide a solid foundation for a new era of growth and continued excellence.
