University Writing Project
The University Writing Project (UWP) began in 2000 as the Junior Level Writing Project and was developed in conjunction with the ACT CAAP Writing Essay. Over time, the UWP has evolved into an in-house assessment of student writing that utilizes course-embedded assignments to assess both early and late stage student writing skills.
Samples of student papers have been selected by the UWP's scoring team to help faculty better understand the scoring of student papers and the corresponding results for the University Writing Project. Each paper represents a high, mid, or low score on the University Writing Project rubric in each of the seven areas of interest (Focus, Genre, Audience, Organization, Critical Thinking, Writer's Presence and Presentation). Faculty and staff interested in viewing sample papers should contact the Office of Assessment Services for web access.
