What Can I Do With a Certificate in Nursing Education from NIU?

How to Apply

You can apply if you have:

• Current RN license in the U.S. with no encumbrances (must hold or have applied for Illinois licensure before beginning coursework
• Master’s degree in nursing from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education, such as the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)

First, send the following to the School of Nursing:

• Post-master’s certificate application (PDF) 
• Official transcript from your master’s degree in nursing
• Three letters of recommendation
• Copy of your current Illinois RN license
• One-page, single-spaced professional goals statement

Send these materials to:

If accepted by the School of Nursing, you’ll apply to the Graduate School as a student at large, providing an official undergraduate transcript.
