  • Faculty-Directed Research (ENVS 490) – Work side-by-side with faculty on cutting-edge research, including projects like the Bird Collision Study and ecological work in the Restoration Lab.
  • Internships (ENVS 492) and Careers – Access a wide network of internship opportunities, including Campus Sustainability Internships, and prepare for your next step with support from the Fall Career Exploration Fair and individualized career guidance.
  • Professional Capstone (ENVS 497) – Apply your skills in a real-world context by completing a capstone project for a community or industry client.
  • Study Abroad – Expand your global perspective through environmentally focused programs abroad.
  • Student Organizations – Get involved in groups such as the ENVS Student Advisory Board and the Justice and Sustainability Association, where you can lead initiatives, connect with peers, and make a difference on and off campus.

My experience as an environmental studies major has been transformative and inspiring. From helping local park districts across Illinois receive funding to managing a community garden, I gained hands-on experience I would never have obtained alone.
