FLBU 101: Introduction to Burmese Language Level 1

This self-paced online course offers students the flexibility of studying the Burmese language from anywhere in the world. This course assumes no prior knowledge of the language. At the end of the course, students will be able to engage in everyday conversations and use the language for travel - from hiring a taxi to asking for a visa extension. Students will also learn how to read and write basic, colloquial Burmese. The course will be taught in English and Burmese. The course fee is $320. Once purchased, the course is non-refundable.

The course is delivered asynchronously, and all materials are included. Please note, you will not earn course credit on an NIU Transcript for completing this course. Once you successfully complete the course, you will receive a certificate of achievement.

Typical Course Content

  • Welcome/Start Here Module
  • Eight modules (approximately 2 hours each to complete).
  • After each module, there will be an assignment or quiz to ensure comprehension of the materials.
