A successful instrumental or vocal audition, along with a supplemental a music application is required for admission to the School of Music and ability to declare a music minor. Students cannot major and minor in the same department/program.
Notes/Comments: This plan is an EXAMPLE of what a minor plan could look like for a typical student. Scores in optional placement exams - foundational studies competency and/or language exams - as well as the completion of AP exams and/or college credit may change the plan. This should not be used in the place of regular academic advising appointments. All students need to meet with the Music advisor each semester to discuss course scheduling. All requirements are subject to change by NIU.
