November 15, 2002
The fourth meeting of the University Assessment Panel (UAP) for the 2002-2003 academic year was held on Friday, November 15, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. in Lowden Hall 304.
Cassidy reminded the panel that the December 6 meeting would be the last of the fall semester.
IUPUI Assessment Institute
House gave a brief overview of the conference. He felt it was the best one yet due to the expansiveness of the assessment topics. Assessment representatives from academic and support units, institutional research, accrediting bodies, and assessment coordinators attended the conference. The scholarship of assessment in that standard procedures and assessment tools are becoming more available and more widely used. North Central Association had a visible presence at the conference. How institutions can make good use of assessment results and that it is a slow process was a topic of discussion.
Feedback on Assessment Plans
Feedback on assessment plans and status reports from Education, Liberal Arts and Sciences, Health and Human Sciences, Visual and Performing Arts, and Business was given. The discussion of the remaining reports will be continued at the December 6 meeting. Funding requests were discussed, but the UAP needs more specific information to be able to make a recommendation.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:52 am. The next meeting of the
UAP will be December 6, 2002 in Lowden Hall 304.
