Fourth Meeting/2009-10 Academic Year
November 19, 2009
Approved
Meeting was held electronically.
OLD BUSINESS
1. EDU #4
New courses LTIC 445 and LTIC 447 were tabled for verification of nonduplication from English, Foreign Languages and Literatures. This was received, see attached. Also, Communicative Disorders should be contacted for verification of nonduplication for LTIC 447. Aase made a motion, seconded by Schneider, to TABLE NEW COURSES LTIC 445 AND LTIC 447 UNTIL VERIFICATION OF NONDUPLICATION IS RECEIVED FROM THE SCHOOL OF ALLIED HEALTH AND COMMUNICATIVE DISORDERS. Motion passed with a majority vote in favor.
2. EET #5
These minutes were approved pending verification of the availability of BIOS 311 and BIOS 357 for engineering students. However, the Department of Biology has expressed some concerns, see attached e-mail from Biology Chair Bode. Aase made a motion, seconded by Schneider, TO APPROVE THE Minor in Biomedical Engineering. Motion passed with a majority vote in favor.
3. EET #6
These minutes were approved with the exception of the highlighted courses on page 4. The college needs to get verification that these courses will be available to students. Also, there are a lot of courses listed as options for just 6 hours. The college needs to provide better rationale for the large number of courses or reconsider the courses they are adding. Aase made a motion, seconded by Schneider, TO TABLE THIS ITEM UNTIL ALL DEPARTMENTS HAVE BEEN HEARD FROM. Motion passed with a majority vote in favor.
Also, the CUC would like clarification of courses for Emphasis 6 on page 12 and whether or not BIOS 106 and GEOG 303 should be ENVS 302 and ENVS 301 respectively. Aase made a motion, seconded by Schneider, TO APPROVE Emphasis 6. Energy and Environmental Technology. Motion passed with a majority vote in favor.
4. Minimum credit hours for minors and second majors.
Stays tabled.

None.
The next meeting will be February 11, 2010, 12:30, Altgeld 225.
Respectfully submitted,
Donna M. Smith
