Membership of University Class II Judicial Board

A.     The University Class II Judicial Board is an integral component of the Northern Illinois University Judicial System. It is composed of:

        One faculty member from the College of Law and two faculty members from each of the other degree-granting colleges recommended by the dean of the college
        and appointed by the Faculty Senate;

        Two members from the supportive professional staff appointed by the Supportive Professional Staff Council;

        Five faculty and supportive professional staff members recommended by the director of the office of Educational Services and Programs and appointed by the
        Faculty Senate;

        Thirty students appointed by the Student Association.

        The members of the University Class II Judicial Board shall be called to serve on the various Class II hearing boards and the Judicial Appeals Board, on a random
        basis.

B.     Faculty and supportive professional staff members shall serve three-year staggered terms and students shall serve one-year terms. All appointments to the
        University Class II Judicial Board may be renewed.

C.     For a Class II hearing, five members shall constitute a hearing board, with three of the members drawn from the student component of the University Class II
        Judicial Board and two members from the faculty and supportive professional staff component of the University Class II Judicial Board. In cases of academic
        misconduct, five members shall constitute a hearing board, with three of the members drawn from the teaching faculty component of the University Class II
        Judicial Board and two members from the student component of the University Class II Judicial Board.

        For a judicial appeal hearing, three members shall constitute an appeals board, with two of the members drawn from the student component of the University
        Class II Judicial Board and one member from the faculty and supportive professional staff component of the University Class II Judicial Board. In cases of
        academic misconduct, three members shall constitute an appeals board, with two of the members drawn from the teaching faculty component of the University
        Class II Judicial Board and one member from the student component of the University Class II Judicial Board.
