Student Conduct Board

Membership of Student Conduct Board

The Student Conduct Board is an integral component of the Northern Illinois University student conduct system. It is composed of:

One faculty member from the College of Law and two faculty members from each of the other degree-granting colleges recommended by the dean of the college and appointed by the Faculty Senate;

Two members from the supportive professional staff appointed by the Supportive Professional Staff Council;

Two members from the operating staff appointed by the Operating Staff Council;

Five supportive professional staff and operating staff members recommended by the VP for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management and approved by the University Council;

Thirty students appointed by the Student Association.

The members of the Student Conduct Board shall be called to serve on the various Student Conduct Boards and the Appeals Board on a random basis.

1. Faculty, supportive professional, or operating staff members shall serve three-year staggered terms and students shall serve one-year terms. All appointments to the Student Conduct Board may be renewed.
   
   
2. For non-academic misconduct incidents, Student Conduct Boards shall be comprised according to the following guidelines:
   
   Three (3) students (drawn from the student component) and two (2) faculty or staff members (drawn from the faculty, supportive professional, or operating staff component) shall comprise the Student Conduct Board.
   
   
3. For academic misconduct incidents, Student Conduct Boards shall be comprised according to the following guidelines:
   
   Two (2) students (drawn from the student component) and three (3) faculty members (drawn from the faculty component of the Student Conduct Board) shall comprise the Student Conduct Board.
   
   
4. For appeals hearings, Appeals Boards shall be comprised according to the following guidelines:
   
   Two (2) students (drawn from the student component of the Student Conduct Board) and one (1) faculty or staff member (drawn from the faculty, supportive professional, or operating staff component of the Student Conduct Board) shall comprise the Appeals Board for non-academic misconduct incidents.
   
   One (1) student (drawn from the student component of the Student Conduct Board) and two (2) faculty members (drawn from the faculty component of the Student Conduct Board) shall comprise the Appeals Board for academic misconduct incidents.
