Membership of Community Standards & Student Conduct Advisory Board
- Establishment of the Community Standards & Student Conduct Advisory Board
1. The Community Standards & Student Conduct Advisory Board shall be established to advise the Office of Community Standards & Student Conduct.
2. The membership of the Community Standards & Student Conduct Advisory Board shall include the following:
- All professional staff members of the Office of Community Standards & Student Conduct;
- Four faculty members appointed by the president of the Faculty Senate;
- One representative appointed by the president of the Operating Staff Council;
- One representative appointed by the president of the Supportive Professional Staff Council;
- One student appointed by the president of the Residence Hall Association;
- One student appointed by the president of the Student Association representing the Student Association;
- One student appointed by the president of the Student Association representing the fraternity and sorority community;
- One student appointed by the director of Off-Campus & Non-Traditional Student Services representing off-campus & non-traditional students;
- One representative from the NIU Department of Police & Public Safety;
- Two representatives from Housing & Dining;
- One representative from the Division of University Legal Services;
- One representative from Intercollegiate Athletics.
- Term of Appointment to Community Standards & Student Conduct Advisory Board and Voting Privileges
1. The term of appointment for all professional staff members of the Office of Community Standards & Student Conduct shall be for the term of employment at Northern Illinois University.
2. The term of appointment for the faculty members shall be three (3) years and may be renewed.
3. The term of appointment for the students shall be one (1) year and may be renewed.
4. The term of appointment for staff members from the Department of Police & Public Safety, Housing & Dining, Division of University Legal Services, Educational Services and Programs, and Intercollegiate Athletics shall be at the discretion of administrators of those respective areas.
5. All members of the Office of Community Standards & Student Conduct may participate in the advisory board meeting, but only the director shall have a vote.
- Attendance at Advisory Board Meetings
All members of the Community Standards & Student Conduct Advisory Board are expected to attend all scheduled meetings.
- Chair of the Community Standards & Student Conduct Advisory Board
The Community Standards & Student Conduct Advisory Board shall elect a chair from its membership. Professional staff members from the Office of Community Standards & Student Conduct are ineligible to serve as chair.
- Role of the Community Standards & Student Conduct Advisory Board
The role of the Community Standards & Student Conduct Advisory Board shall be to assist with review and recommendations for changes to the Student Code of Conduct.
- Any Question of Interpretation or Application of the Student Code of Conduct
Any questions of interpretation or application of the Student Code of Conduct shall be referred to the office of the vice president for student affairs & enrollment management for determination.
- The Student Code of Conduct May be Reviewed Annually
The Student Code of Conduct may be reviewed periodically under the direction of the Community Standards & Student Conduct Advisory Board.
Community Standards & Student Conduct Advisory Board
The CSSCAB meets approximately monthly per members' availability.
