President's Message

This is the time in your life where you have reached an opportunity that is not afforded to everyone; I would like to take the opportunity to welcome you to the Huskie Family. As your Student body President my tasks and duties are long and intricate, but your concerns, issues, and ideas will always come first. The Student Association of Northern Illinois University is a historical marvel. It has paved the way not only for tens of thousands of students here at NIU, but has been a driving force in the development of Student Governments across the nation. Your Student Association, under my administration, will focus on the areas of execution, determination, and unified progression. We are prepared to take this governing body to an unprecedented level and, in return, will produce historical results benefiting NIU students. The Student Association allocates over $1.6 million and offers resources to students at a higher caliber than any other Collegiate Institution in the Continental United States. The Student Association oversees over 300 recognized student organizations , and allocates monetary funding to over 75 recognized organizations. We are also responsible for operating the Huskie Bus System which has operating costs of approximately $3.5 million per year. This is the second-largest mass transit system in the state behind only the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) and is one of the largest student-run mass transit systems in the nation. The upcoming school year will include fascinating events on our campus in the areas of facilities, academics, social venues, dining, community service and athletics, just to name a few. Now is the time for Northern Illinois University to begin its amalgamation with undoubted execution, thorough communication, ethics, and critical thinking. Join us, and become a part of history that will never be removed from the hearts and minds of those that you impacted.

Thank You
