My Story:

I am a DeKalb native who has stayed close to home to go to school, but the experiences that I have had while in school have taken me further away from Illinois than I ever imagined. During high school I studied abroad in Finland and Mexico, and during college all of the activities that I have participated in have not slowed down. I participated in an eight month internship at Walt Disney World working in attractions at Animal Kingdom. I spent five weeks of summer 2012 in Lima, Peru studying Spanish.  While it was my plan to transfer to a different college or university after my freshman year, I found NIU to be an amazing school, with so many great experiences that I stayed. The experiences at NIU have been more than I ever thought they would be and I am so happy to be an NIU Huskie!
