My Story:
When I came to NIU, I was completely undecided about what I wanted to do. I wanted to do something with art, or physics; two completely different paths. After taking most of my general education requirements, I talked with an advisor who suggested I major in Mechanical Engineering. So I signed up for some of the classes, and tried it out. I was not enjoying myself at all. I needed to do something about it, but didn’t know what to do.
But there was one thing I was enjoying, Humans vs. Zombies. One day, I was talking with some of my friends in HvZ, and one of them suggested I try Theatre, Design and Technology, since I was a part of stage crew in high school.
So I contacted Melanie Parks, showed her some of my portfolio, and I was accepted into the program. My classes have been challenging, yet I have enjoyed my classes immensely, and I am much happier doing what I’m doing. I’ve learned new skills, made new friends, and I am preparing for my future, where ever it may lead.
