The below information describes the processes available to employers.
As with any other job posting service, employers have the ability to post positions, accept resumes and in most cases, peruse resume books. Candidates are then contacted for telephone screening, testing, or interview scheduling by the employer. The NIU Campus Recruiting office suite is usually available for the employer to conduct interviews on campus if that is convenient for both parties. The entire process is managed by employer.
Interviews at NIU are scheduled using the following employer pre-selection process:
Contact Campus Recruiting and select a date to interview. Four weeks notice will allow plenty of time to ensure an effective use of the system. After selecting a Campus Recruiting date, you will receive confirmation materials including important dates. Call Career Services at 815-753-1641 to schedule on-campus interviews.
If you have an existing Victor eRecruiting account, you may request that the Campus Recruiting coordinator reactivate previous job descriptions or you may add new jobs at any time. Remember to enter your company, contact, and job description information.
Given the large number of job seekers participating in campus recruiting, it is seldom possible for us to advise them individually about new jobs. Your online presence is your best, and sometimes only, means of communicating with potential applicants.
Review applicants’ resumes. Job seekers will indicate their interest in interviewing with your organization by submitting their resumes to your job posting(s) online. You will receive these resumes via email roughly 3 weeks prior to your interview date, or you can review resumes as they are posted.
Select successful candidates online. It is not necessary to contact the students you select to interview. The Victor eRecruiting system will automatically notify them of their selection and provide them with further instructions. I suggest you send an email to your selected interview candidates to remind them of pre-recruitment activity or to reiterate essential application requirements: minimum GPA, U.S. citizenship/permanent residency, or ability to travel extensively on the job, for example.
Your candidates will go online and schedule an interview time. Final schedules will be available to you via Victor eRecruiting on the Friday morning prior to your interview date. While schedules are subject to last-minute changes, we will do our best to assure that all candidates appear for their interviews and that cancellations are kept to a minimum.
