Every month, we publish this newsletter for students, faculty, and staff at NIU. The newsletter features different interesting topics written by many people from our office and in the NIU community. Please come to the office to pick up your newsletter or you can download the newsletter each month.

As commuter and non-traditional students we understand that it can be difficult for you to access offices on campus during normal business hours. While we can't change those hours we can advertise the special services which are available after 4:30pm during the academic year:
Open from 8am to 8:30pm located in Stevenson South, Tower B in the lower level.
Locations vary but select centers are open as late as 11pm. Please refer to the Tutoring link.
There are many computer labs on campus that are open late; some are even open until 1:45am if you need to get a lot of studying done. Follow the link for a list of locations and hours.
These services include cardio machines, weight machines and free weights, basketball/volleyball/tennis courts, swimming an dindoor tracks. Follow the link for building hours, services available and locations.
When using Huskie Bucks at university-owned dining areas, your purchase is tax exempt! Here is a list of dining areas that are open at night in the Holmes Student Center:
THE HUB - Open until 6pm, Monday through Thursday COFFEE CORNER - Open until 5pm, Monday through Thursday SUBWAY - open until 11pm, Monday through Friday; open until 9pm, Saturday and Sunday
As for the Dining Halls in the residence halls, they also accept Huskie Bucks and are tax exempt. Some are even open until 11pm if you want a late snack! Please follow the link for information on location and hours.
Parking on campus can be a hassle, but if you plan on being here late, parking just became easier. Most parking lots on campus only require a permit until 7pm, so anytime after 7pm you are free to park without getting a ticket. Just pay special attention to the signs to make sure you don't park somewhere that requires permits at all time.
Want a place to chill out or go bowling with friends? The Huskie Den would be a perfect place to go and is open late almost everyday of the week. The hours of the Huskie Den are:
- Monday through Thursday: 11am to 11:30pm
- Friday and Saturday: 1pm to 1am
- Sunday: 1pm to 11:30pm
The TCF Bank in the Holmes Student Center has hours extending from typical business hours. They are:
- Monday through Friday: 9am to 6pm
- Saturday, 10am to 4:40pm
The University Bookstore hours are:
- Monday through Thursday, 8am to 6pm
- Friday: 8am to 4:30pm
- Saturday: 12pm to 4:30pm
The Village Commons Bookstore (VCB) is another convenient place to get supplies for your everyday school needs. The VCB Hours are:
- Monday through Friday: 8:30am to 5:30pm
- Saturday: 10am to 5pm
The Commuter Lounge as well as the Holmes Student Center are both open seven days a week for you to come and do homework or just relax. Here are the hours of the Holmes Student Center:
- Sunday through Thursday: 7am to 12am
- Friday through Saturday: 7am to 1am
