Phyl Naffziger

Phyl Naffziger is one of Career Services’ counselors who directly assist education, performing arts, and public administration students in finding meaningful work or internships that are related to their choice of careers. With a master’s degree in Public Administration, a Master of Military Science, and a Bachelor of Science in Education, Phyl is well prepared to address the common and uncommon career-related issues students face when making the transition from the classroom to the workplace.

Phyl’s honest, professional, and forthright approach is grounded upon 22 years of military service as an officer specializing in communications, and additional leadership while working with college students as the Chair of the NIU Department of Military Science, ROTC program. Phyl is no stranger to taking on additional responsibilities for the department, such as coordinating the career component of the CHAMPS Athlete Services program, the Program for the Hearing Impaired capstone exercise, and assisting veterans, all of which requires a great deal of planning and adaptability.
