Complete Your Application

Don't keep us waiting...

We're excited to send your admission decision to you, but something may be missing.

Below are some common items that may be needed to complete your admissions file. Check your To-Do List in MyNIU for details.

Once we receive your information, we'll be able to let you know if you've been admitted as our newest NIU Huskie!

High School

Please request that your high school electronically send your official transcript to NIU. You can also ask your high school counselor to send your official transcripts as a PDF from their school email address to admissions@niu.edu.

College

Please request that your college's Registration and Records office send your electronic transcript directly to us.

If your GPA is below 3.0, we'll process your application through holistic review — a personalized evaluation of your application and circumstances. Additional requirements may include responses to holistic review questions, updated transcripts and an interview.

You can email a clear, legible photo or a PDF of both the front and back of your permanent residence/green card to admissions@niu.edu. You also can bring the card in person or mail a copy to our Office of Admissions at:

Activating Your AccountID

When you submitted your application, you received an email prompting you to activate your NIU AccountID. Once you’ve activated your AccountID, you’re ready to access MyNIU. 

Accessing MyNIU

Go to myniu.niu.edu and click on MyNIU Student System.

  1. Type in your AccountID (Z-ID) and password.
  2. To view the status of your application, click on the Admissions tile.
  3. To view your To-Do List, click on the Tasks tile.
