
President Jarvis K. Purnell has been involved with the Student Association for over three years. He has served in many capacities including an SA Senator, Director of Student Life, SA Treasurer, and now President.
He is in his senior year and is studying Industrial Engineering Technology, with an emphasis in Safety.
He has also served in other leadership capacities across NIU’s campus. He is the immediate past President of Black Male Initiative, a member of the Black Student Union, and serves as the Academic and Undergraduate Advisor to his fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.
When asked, what is the most fulfilling part of being Student Association President, his reply was “knowing that I have the opportunity to personally and professionally influence the lives of students on NIU’s campus in a positive manner.”
