NSF Proposals
The National Science Foundation is one of the largest external funders of research at NIU. In Fiscal Year 2009, NIU submitted 55 proposals and pre-proposals to the National Science Foundation, requesting nearly $16 million in total project funding.

Here are some important links for investigators considering submitting a proposal to NSF:
- Grants Proposal Guide (GPG). Generally updated in January of each year, the GPG contains the basic guidelines for all NSF proposals. Unless directed otherwise by a specific program solicitation or an NSF program officer, these are the rules and regulations that you must abide by in order for your proposal to be considered.
