Tobacco

Are you thinking about becoming a non-smoker?
Are you trying to help a friend or family member quit?
Or are you looking for information about smoking tobacco?

If you answered yes to any of these you have come to the right place.

We are pleased to report that the majority of students at NIU do not smoke, and we want to encourage and empower anyone interested in quitting to get started! There are many benefits to not using, or stopping the use of tobacco products. Saving money, more energy and better health are just some of the positive outcomes to quitting. If you are thinking about becoming a non-smoker here are some things to consider:

  • Write down all the reasons you have for quitting.
  • Consider using nicotine replacement therapy such as gum or the patch.
  • Look into quitting programs. Come to Health Enhancement to learn about Xtreme Air, our smoking cessation program.
  • Set a QUIT date.
  • Plan ahead to deal with cravings. Have on hand gum, mints, and water.
  • Ask your family and friends for support.
