Are you thinking about becoming a non-smoker?

Did you know that a 2013 survey of NIU students showed that 58% of NIU students have never smoked cigarettes, and that only 8% of students identified themselves as daily smokers? Nationally, only 4% of college students identify as daily smokers, and nearly 70% of college students nationally report never smoking at all. 

We want to encourage and empower anyone interested in quitting to get started TODAY! There are many benefits to not using, or stopping the use of tobacco products, such as: saving money, having more energy, being healthier, and much more. If you want to stop smoking any tobacco product, including cigarettes, cigars, or hookah; then you are on the right website. Below are some quick tips for getting started:

  • Write down all the reasons you have for quitting.
  • Consider using nicotine replacement therapy such as gum or the patch.
  • Look into quitting programs. Come to Health Enhancement to learn about Xtreme Air, our smoking cessation program.
  • Set a QUIT date.
  • Plan ahead to deal with cravings. Have on hand gum, mints, and water.
  • Ask your family and friends for support.
