Alcohol
Did you know that for those NIU students who choose to drink alcohol,
most do so in a healthy way? It's true! Most of our students who choose
to drink, engage in protective behaviors that help to keep them safe
and their BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) at or below .05
These protective behaviors include:
- Alternate alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks
- Determine in advance not to exceed a set number of drinks
- Choose not drink any alcohol
- Use a sober designated driver
- Eat before and/or during drinking
- have a friend let you know when you've had enough
- Keep track of the number of drinks you consume
- Pace drinking to one or fewer per hour
- Avoid drinking games
