Rec Rewards Program

Striving for Progress, Not Perfection

This unique program is designed to encourage and reward our members who engage in a variety of NIU Campus Recreation programs. Each time you exercise or participate in one of our programs you earn points which can earn you prizes! Once you have earned enough points for the next prize, you may claim it at the SRC Main Desk . Once you claim a prize at a credit level, you don’t lose those points. Instead, you keep building more credits!  Members can join at anytime and earn points throughout the year.  

How do I register for the Rec Rewards Program?

The first 500 Campus Recreation members who register will be eligible

How do I earn points in the Rec Rewards Program?

Participants who engage in any of the following Campus Recreation activities for a minimum of 30 minutes are eligible to earn one point:

  • Aquatics: Classes, Open Recreation Lap or Open Swim
  • Group Fitness Classes
  • Intramural Sports competitions
  • Nutrition Counseling Sessions
  • Outdoor Adventure Trips
  • Open Recreation at the Student Recreation Center (SRC) or
  • Chick Evans Field House
  • Personal Training Sessions
  • Equipment rentals from the Outing Centre for self-guided trips
  • Sports Clubs practices or competitions (home activities only)

How Many Points Can I Earn?

  • Participants may only earn 1 point per day and a maximum of 2 regular points per week.
  • Participants may earn 1 bonus point per week: Bonus points are earned by participating in a unique activity (i.e. a participant who earned 2 points attending two Group Fitness classes can earn a bonus point for competing in an Intramural event).
  • Participants can earn an additional point each week by participanting in the extra weekly bonus point activity.  
  • Participants can earn a regular point and a bonus point in the same day.

After you participate in NIU’s Campus Recreation activities a staff member will log your activity. To ensure that your activity has been recorded be sure to check-in with staff members:

  • Open Recreation – SRC Main Desk
  • Outdoor Adventure trips and activities – SRC Outing Centre
  • Aquatics classes and Open Recreation Swim – Gabel or Anderson Pool while Campus Recreation lifeguard is on duty.
  • Group Fitness Classes – Group Fitness Check-in Desk
  • Personal Training – Personal Trainers will record participation.
  • Intramural Sports Competitions – Participation will be recorded on scorecards.
  • Nutrition Counseling – Counselors will record participation.
  • Sport Club practices or competitions – Sport Club officers will report participation.
