Our association is a local chapter of the State Universities Annuitants Association (SUAA), a growing organization of nearly 15,000 members in 50 chapters.
Both NIUAA and SUAA promote the interests and the welfare of the members of the State Universities Retirement System (SURS). SURS members include present and future retirees as well as their spouses and survivors.
Most of us are aware that the State of Illinois, in severe fiscal crisis, has not been paying physician and hospital bills incurred since at least February 2009. Seeking reimbursement, the Kishwaukee Health Network Physician Hospital Organization, comprising Kishwaukee Community Hospital and many physicians in DeKalb County, sent the letter, below, in late October.
