Counseling and Consultation Services

Counseling and Consultation Services (CCS) provides comprehensive mental health support for currently enrolled students at NIU. 

You can refer a student to call CCS or attend an initial consultation appointment so that they can be seen by a counselor to get support. You can also provide the student information about he CCS website, where they can learn more about our center and the services we offer. 

If you have specific questions or concerns about a student, or are unsure about how to approach a situation, call CCS at 815-753-1206 to speak with a counselor.

Employee Assistance Program

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides confidential assistance to NIU employees and their families as they encounter difficulties in their personal lives and careers through counseling, coaching and training services.

EAP counselors are trained to assist in many areas that include but are not limited to emotional issues such as depression, anxiety and grief; financial difficulties; couples, family, or relationship conflicts; personal concerns; stress-related problems; difficult work situations; and alcohol/drug abuse; career and education development and onboarding for new employees.
