Psychiatric services are available by appointment. Please call Health Services Psychiatry Services at 815-753-1311 for more information. A missed appointment fee is assessed to students who miss or fail to cancel their appointment.
Mental health records are confidential. In accordance with federal and state laws, health records are not available to NIU staff, departments, or parents without specific written consent of the patient.
Patients may be referred for individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, or specialized testing to other campus services; those services include, but are not limited to, the Counseling and Student Development Center, Psychological Services, Counseling Lab, Women's Resource Center, or the Family Center. Students may also be referred to off-campus facilities.
