Violence Prevention

Pause Off! Peer Education Theater Troupe:

Pause Off! performs skits to start conversations about several, sometimes difficult, topics such as healthy
relationships, dating/domestic violence, and sexual assault. This is a great way for students to have conversations
with their peers about how to be a good bystander, party safer, and help a friend. If you are looking for
a fun and engaging way to present this information, Pause Off! is your answer.

Suggested Length: 1 hour

Speakers Bureau:

Looking for a speaker on sexual assault, or dating/domestic violence? Are you interested in learning more
about legal issues and resources for survivors? Health Enhancement will set up a program for you on these
topics with speakers from many areas on campus. Whether it's a panel or just one presenter we can connect
you with the person you need. Speakers come from the following departments: Health Enhancement, NIU
Police & Public Safety, Safe Passage, Counseling and Student Development Center, and Women’s Resource
Center.

Suggested Length: 1 hour

Handling Conflict:

While in college students come into contact with a lot of different people. Roommates, new friends, boy/girl
friends, classmates, professors, neighbors, etc. Conflict can and will happen in some circumstances from a
verbal argument to a physical fight. Health Enhancement wants to talk with students about how to handle
these issues. Health Educators will conduct a presentation where we discuss communication with others, how
to handle with different types of conflict, how to help a friend, and resources on and off campus.
