Faculty and Staff Services
The NIU Scholarship Office is available to assist in the administration of departmental and office scholarships. Along with colleagues in Development, the NIU Foundation, Financial Aid and Accounting, we provide individualized training and group workshops on the following topics and more:
- NIU scholarship processes and procedures
- Financial Summary Reports (FSRs)
- Scholarship forms and other paperwork
- Application materials
- Financial Aid implications
The NIU Scholarship Office maintains the university scholarships website and multiple scholarship search engines. Massive updating is done over the summer, but individual additions/deletions/changes can be made to the scholarships search engine at anytime. In addition to providing scholarship criteria and contact information, the search engine can also provide applications for students to download. The NIU Scholarship Office will post or link to existing applications. We can also convert your current applications to pdf files and/or create new applications upon request.
Endowment Financial Summary Reports are posted monthly by the NIU Foundation. Fund administrators can view these reports in their budget directories. On a quarterly basis, the Scholarship Office provides hard copies for the FSRs to deans, directors, chairpersons and fund administrators. We are available to assist in the reading of these reports at anytime.
Upon request, we also provide support in the scholarship selection processes. We can be as involved or removed as a department or office needs. Services available include but are not necessarily limited to:
- Scholarship publicity
- Creation of application and evaluation materials
- Application collation and academic data verification
- Award and declination letters to all applicants
We invite the NIU community to contact the Scholarship Office with any scholarship questions, concerns or needs at anytime.
