DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAMMING AND CONSULTATIONThe CSDC staff regularly design and offer a variety of proactive programs focusing on the diverse developmental, educational, and emotional needs of students. Themes that have recently been in high demand include sexual assault; being an ally to gay, lesbian, and bisexual students; stress management; relationship skills; and eating disorders. Structured psychoeducational groups can be developed that meet the intern's interests and areas of expertise. CSDC provides sexual assault and interpersonal violence prevention programs to all NIU freshmen. In addition, CSDC staff function as liaison and consultants to the Residence Halls. Interns, like all professional staff, are expected to facilitate developmental programs. In particular, interns should expect to provide at least three programs during evening hours each semester, as requested by various communities on campus. At least two additional programs offered during daytime hours each semester are also expected. Often, but not always, these presentations will be related to the intern's specialization. Involvement in consultation will vary depending on available consultation projects and the intern's expertise and interest. |
