COUNSELING AND CRISIS INTERVENTIONEach intern is closely supervised in the treatment of clients. The intern provides primarily short-term individual therapy with the opportunity to work with a wide range of psychopathology, relationship issues, academic stress, and career exploration. Interns carry 12 ongoing clients, utilizing a time-limited model. Interns will co-lead a therapy group (such as general therapy, family of origin, women's group, or depression group) each semester. Interns conduct walk in appointments, see students in crisis, and rotate through the after hours on-call system approximately one weeknight every two weeks and two weekends per semester. These experiences expose the intern to emergency and urgent situations, rapid assessment, and the determination of appropriate services and/or referral. |
