Walk-In Appointments

Students needing assistance with personal concerns or crisis situations can walk-in for a consultation appointment with a CSDC counselor. Our walk-in hours are from 11:00 - 4:00, Monday through Friday. You do not need to call before you come; just come to our office in Campus Life Building 200.

The goal of the walk-in appointment is for you to meet with a member of our staff for approximately 30 minutes to discuss your concerns and decide on a course of action that best meets your needs. Please note that during busy periods you may have to wait to see a walk-in counselor, but every effort will be made to meet with you in a timely manner. During the walk-in appointment, you and the counselor may decide upon one of the following options:

  • Individual counseling at CSDC
  • A referral to a CSDC therapy group
  • A referral for a CSDC eating disorder assessment, substance assessment,
    or anger intervention

  • A referral to another NIU agency or resource
  • A referral to an off-campus agency or resource
