Suzanne Mulligan Autrey

Research Interests

  • Metamorphic petrology and petrochronology in metamorphic core complexes
  • Development, assessment, and application of elastic geobarometers and geothermometers
  • Mineral stress and strain analysis using Raman and synchrotron X-ray diffraction
  • Experimental petrology studying metamorphic minerals at extreme conditions

Specific Research Endeavors

  • Extending the quartz-in-garnet elastic geobarometer for use in tensionally stressed quartz inclusions
  • Using U-(Th)-Pb titanite, monazite, and zircon petrochronlogy and pressure-temperature modeling in western US Cordilleran core complexes to evaluate the timing and conditions of mid-crustal deformation in the Sevier hinterland
  • Testing models for the emplacement of the Pelona-Orocopia-Rand schist suite using geothermobarometry and garnet geochronology
  • Developing a geobarometer for shocked pyroxene

Frequently Taught Classes
