Tips from Fellow Huskies

Francisco Cervantes

"I have formed some new friendships through clubs, classes and extracurricular events. I joined the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Clublast semester and made some friends in that club by sharing common interests. Within my own classes, I just talk to the people around me and discuss how things in the class are going or other classes. The conversations mostly consist of school-related things. As for extracurricular events, sometimes I go to events like Loteria Night or something of that nature and just start talking to people."

Francisco Cervantes
Mathematical sciences, secondary education licensure major

Jean Isabel

"Strive to gain all you can from faculty and your peers. NIU has so much to offer. Don't be afraid to engage in activities and events."

Jeanne Isabel
Chair and associate professor, Health Studies

Weekly Wellness Tip

“How do I manage my time in an online class?”

I have this nightmare that I signed up for an online class (I had a few in graduate school) and forgot to log in for the entire semester. In my dream, I’m panicking that I have to take the final and pass it. I usually wake up in a sweat, thankful that it was just a dream. Now, I guess you’ll have that nightmare, too—sorry!
