Join us for "Stop Beating Yourself Up. It’s Stressing You Out" on Wednesday, April 8

This transformative program will help you break free from perfectionism, burnout, and relentless self-criticism. Become empowered to embrace self-compassion and mindfulness as tools for building resilience, improving mental health, and achieving sustainable success.

Matt Kovatchis, CPCC, is an ex-corporate banker turned mental health and self-compassion speaker, coach, and entrepreneur. Prior to speaking, Matt spent seven years in corporate banking at multinational banks. Externally, he had the “dream” life — checking all the boxes of what success was supposed to look like. Internally, though, he was miserable, empty, and alone. Matt is also the founder and host of a top 1% mental health podcast, “The Men in the Arena With Matt Kovatchis & MD” and is the author of Enjoying Your Own Company: A 75-day Guided Self-Love Journal. Finally, Matt graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2017 and is a proud member of Alpha Tau Omega.

My favorite spot on campus is the Holmes Student Center. I like going there to grab food and Starbucks. My friends and I hang out in the Huskie Den to play pool, too. It is a relaxing, chill space where I can relax and have fun with friends.

Take advantage of the resources available here at NIU. I have worked with the wonderful people at the University Writing Center, Founders Memorial Library, the University Honors Program and more. Also, the campus is beautiful, so take a moment to go out and enjoy nature or grab a bite to eat at the food trucks on Wednesdays.
