PlayStation 5 consoles now available for open play in NIU Esports Arena

Thanks to the NIU Huskie Gaming Club, the NIU Esports Arena now has two PlayStation 5 consoles and four controllers, as well as several PlayStation 5 games including Street Fighter 6, Gran Turismo 7 and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.

The PlayStation 5 consoles are available to all NIU students for open play during the arena’s open hours (generally noon to 10 p.m. daily whenever school is in session). Our Esports Arena is located in Altgeld Hall 100. Learn more on our NIU Esports website.

These new consoles supplement our arena’s existing 30 gaming PCs, five Xboxes including an Xbox Series X, four PS4s and five Nintendo Switches. The consoles can be checked out with a OneCard and used in any of the arena’s eight console gaming stations.

All students are invited to join NIU’s student-run video game clubs: Huskie Gaming and Gaming for All. Our Huskie Gaming Club meets about once a week with meetings listed on HuskieHub. Members participate in relaxed recreational games nights and tournaments. Players of all backgrounds and abilities are welcome.

Tip from a Huskie

"The amount of campus involvement opportunities has been an overwhelmingly positive experience for me. I had no intention of being as involved as I have been because I did not understand there was an opportunity to do so, especially coming from a smaller community college. I am so thankful that NIU encourages these kinds of experiences. I think everyone should get involved as it has heightened my experience significantly."
