Congratulations to the Class of 2023! We’re so proud of you, and we want to capture this milestone with a photo shoot. Bring your cap and gown and head over to get your photo taken outside of Altgeld Hall. NIU staff photographers from Institutional Communications will be taking photos of #NIUGrads in their regalia to post on NIU social media channels.

May graduates and their families are invited to our New Graduate Reception from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on May 13. The business casual event will be held at the Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center at 231 N. Annie Glidden Road.

Moving out of the residence halls for the summer?
|
|
|
The residence halls close for summer break at the end of the semester. If you’re planning on moving out at the end of the semester, you must do so within 24 hours of your last exam, and before the residence halls close at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 13. You must sign up for a checkout time with your community advisor in advance. Learn what you need to know about leaving for the summer.

Jump start your career with UNIV 301.
Registration begins April 3. If you’re looking to get ready for your career or graduate school, consider taking UNIV 301: Braven Leadership and Career Accelerator, a 3-credit elective course taught by Leadership Coaches working in a variety of industries. As mentors, they provide you with valuable feedback and insights, so you’re better prepared for your future after NIU.
Nearly 400 Huskies have already completed UNIV 301 since it first launched in Fall 2022. Talk to your advisor and enroll for Fall 2023 via MyNIU during registration. Learn more about UNIV 301.

Einstein Bros. Bagels open this summer!
Awesome news, Huskies! Einstein Bros. Bagels, located in the lower level of Founders Memorial Library, will have summer hours. Starting Tuesday, May 30, Einstein’s will be open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Whether it’s to satisfy a lunch craving or place a catering order, we’re happy to assist with all your freshly baked bagel needs. Proposals now being accepted for the Racial Healing: Through the Lenses of Truth Campus Conference.
NIU’s inaugural Racial Healing: Through the Lenses of Truth Campus Conference will be held on Oct. 27, 2023.
This conference, led by the divisions of Student Affairs and Academic Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, will include keynote speakers, interactive workshops, presentations and more. This conference offers space for social justice, racial healing and restorative justice work along with opportunities for continued education of self-awareness and growth for all members of our campus community. In addition, it’s an opportunity for collaboration across our institution to consider what racial reconciliation and justice mean, especially within our classrooms and how we engage with each other and our students.
Faculty, staff and students are invited to submit an interactive workshop proposal by June 12, 2023.

DeKalb Corn Classic registration now open.
The DeKalb Corn Classic will be held on Sept. 24, 2023. Beginning and ending in Downtown DeKalb, the route takes runners through historical neighborhoods, along the Kishwaukee River via Prairie Park, through NIU's campus and Huskie Stadium and ends in Van Buer Plaza with a post race celebration!

8 ways to stop procrastinating.
It’s 6 p.m. on the eve of your final, and you have yet to crack open your books. It’s not that you didn’t have time to study, you just put it off. You hung out with friends, went for a run, reorganized your closet, maybe even finished the assignments for all your other classes. You just really, really didn’t want to study for this test, and now you’re faced with a night of cramming.
