Safety Data Sheets

A safety data sheet (SDS), formerly known as a material safety data sheet or MSDS, is a document that contains information on the potential hazards and how to work safely with the chemical product. It also contains information on the use, storage, handling, and emergency procedures all related to the hazards of the material. SDSs are a widely used system for cataloging information on chemicals, chemical compounds, and chemical mixtures.

The Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) requires chemical manufacturers, distributors, or importers to provide SDSs to communicate the hazards of hazardous chemical products. Employers are required by law to obtain an SDS for each hazardous substance they use or store and make the SDS available to employees.

The following resources should be utilized if having trouble obtaining SDSs from the vendor or for old stocks of products.
